Are women consensually objectifying themselves online empowering, or what is the societal cost?
This isn’t me judging anyone, and this isn’t factual. This is just me sharing my current thoughts that I’m sure will alter and evolve further with time.

I used to like to objectify myself a lot. But what it all eventually came down to was that this part wasn’t soul-based, it was ego-based. Being an exhibitionist is something in my soul. My soul loves to show my beautiful body and the art I create with it, without caring what the observer thinks or wants.

So what did my ego like about the objectification? All the validation. Feeling powerful, feeling like I owned men’s desire. Getting their attention even when I shouldn’t get it. A part of me specifically liked the thought that lots of the men were in relationships, but that I had made them too helpless to resist me.

You see, this is where it gets twisted. Because me tempting men isn’t exclusive to just me. It’s not something personal, that they specifically find me special. When I zoomed out my perspective, I saw something else. Something quite frightening.

Endless amounts of girls objectifying themselves and thriving off that validation considering it empowering and powerful, and who am I to claim that it isn’t? But what does it teach the men in our society? And how does it wire their brain?

They don’t have to step up in their lives because there are always women online that seem willing, available, easy and fine with men being objectifying and sexualizing. These girls don’t demand personal development, emotional maturity, fidelity to a partner, or being an overall decent human being.

When I look back on loads of comments I’ve gotten, my inner response has been “This doesn’t feel right to me and it is crossing the line, but I’m letting them think that it is okay because I’ve chosen this industry, I am an exhibitionist and I don’t want to quit.” I told myself that comments showing how distorted some men’s thoughts about women are were just a part of my job and my industry. That it is just something I have to take.

But if thousands of girls just play along being fine with their limits actually being crossed and being talked to as objects in a way that actually makes their stomachs churn with discomfort, what is going to happen to these men who go about their day thinking that what they are doing is fine?

Being objectified can be a kink, it can be arousing, and it can be consensual. But when thousands of stranger men see that as a free pass to continue to wire their extremely destructive brain patterns objectifying and sexualizing women, it becomes dangerous to our society. Because they will walk out their door and view women unrealistically because of everything they have consumed.

Online they are able to talk to women pretty much however they want to. They are able to find women that will do anything they prefer. Which teaches them that women are available objects, moldable to their liking. When these men try to have real life relationships, will their brains have realistic expectations of women? Likely not.

In the end, are women really owning men’s desire or are we simply being one of many women that are being consumed, and one of many women that are teaching men that it is okay and normal to consume women?

This isn’t me blaming women posting content, I am obviously one of them, and I will continue to be. It is not about suggesting women take all responsibility for raising men. The responsibility is in the man himself. But I want to put a light on that the system we built, enhanced by algorithms and constant accessibility, enables men to so easily abandon their own personal development and emotional maturity. Which will weaken men as a whole. While many of us women actually want to create happy families with strong, intelligent men.
