Making safe spaces, online and offline Stockholm Pride House sal C3, 12:00-12:45 What can we do to build healthy and welcoming environments for everyone, or at least for as many as possible? Simple security measures to keep trolls and haters away can be effective. But how can they be implemented without risking to also lock out people who genuinely do need access? One of the core problems is that leaving ignorance, prejudice and bigotry behind is not only a gradual process – but several gradual processes going on at the same time. People can be prejudiced against themselves. And when the same person belongs to more than one minority, it is sadly common that they in each community face prejudice and bigotry against the other minority. For example, a queer immigrant may encounter queerphobia among (mostly straight) immigrants as well as facing racism in the queer community. This talk will feature two or three speakers, as well as invite the audience to share their own experiences. One of the featured speakers will be Qyla Louzierein, who has many years of experience both in Sweden and in Indonesia. In Sweden, her experience is mostly from several years in SFQ (Sweden's federation of LGBTQ+ student organizations). In Indonesia, her experience comes from several different projects as a sex educator and activist. https://program.stockholmpride.org/sv/events/337/making-safe-spaces-online-and-offline |
