Fetish - transgression - sexuality - horror - science fiction - performance art To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the acclaimed Polish fetish performance group SUKA OFF, the creators are visiting Husets Biograf and presenting their film project INSIDE FLESH The screening at Husets Biograf will present a selection of short films and the world premiere of INSIDE FLESH’s latest feature, "Black Cell", accompanied by artist commentaries and a Q&A session. INSIDE FLESH is a film project launched in 2007 by BFV (Piotr Węgrzyński), founder of the Polish artist collective SUKA OFF, which has created multidisciplinary work since 1995, spanning theater, performance art, photography, installations, and video art. Since 2005, SUKA OFF has been a prominent presence in the global fetish scene, performing at major events like Torture Garden, German Fetish Ball, Wasteland, Demonia, Sadistic Circus and Copenhagen’s own fetish club Manifest. SUKA OFF's work was always focused on the human body, exploring its physical, emotional, and cultural dimensions. Emphasizing authenticity, always avoiding faking anything that could be done for real. However, they found that theater and alternative club scenes often restricted depictions of sexuality, while scenes of violence or blood faced fewer limitations. This inspired them to pursue greater artistic freedom in video works. INSIDE FLESH continues SUKA OFF’s aesthetic and themes, defined by fetishism, post-industrial imagery, synthetic materials, and fluid, ever-shifting character roles. They also did not abandon the lo-fi aesthetic characteristic of BFV’s early video experiments, particularly the distinctive use of VHS recording and editing techniques. Reflecting the artists’ aesthetic preferences, their projects incorporate elements of genre cinema, such as horror and science fiction. Unlike BFV’s earlier films, INSIDE FLESH incorporates real sex while distancing itself from mainstream pornography as well as “post” or “ethical” porn, aligning instead with the transgressive cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. Their performance art experience infuses their films with elements rarely found in pornographic works, such as references to action painting, body art, and butoh. Film starts at 19:30. Their films and photographs have been showcased at numerous film festivals and art galleries across Europe and Japan. In 2008, their debut feature "Carnal Fluidity" premiered at the Berlin Porn Film Festival, winning the main prize. In 2014, renowned photographer Nick Knight featured selected INSIDE FLESH short films during Nicola Formichetti’s DIESEL fashion show in Venice. In 2016, their fashion film “Alchemy,” created for Chinese-Japanese designer Leonard Wong, became the first work by a Polish artist to debut on SHOWstudio, the prestigious fashion film platform curated by Nick Knight. In 2018, Franco-German television channel ARTE produced a full feature on INSIDE FLESH for its program TRACKS. |
