Ichi-Go Ichi-E (一期一会) - about tying in and for the moment Ichi-go Ichi-e translates literally to "one time, one meeting” and stands for the Japanese cultural concept of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment. And isn’t it exactly this what we aim for in Kinbaku - on both sides of the ropes? In this Weekend Intensive, we inquire about what is needed to do - or don’t-do - to create a truly intimate encounter in the very present moment. We will transcend style and technique and work with everything else: presence, intention, space and time. Specifically, we will use three - related - Japanese concepts, Alexander was introduced already decades ago through Martial Arts studies to guide through the exercises: • MU-GA- a state of emptiness - free from attachment, expectations, and desires • MA - the idea of space and time • MUSUBI - the spirit of birth and becoming Even though very conceptional in content - this is a practical workshop: you will tie / get tied a lot. For whom is it? This workshop is for people (of all ages and gender) who are one a upper-intermediate level in Japanese-inspired bondage and interested to look beyond technique or form to learn tools to be more present, authentic, inspired, daring and playful in the rope sessions together. Although specific technical elements such as suspensions will not be content of the workshop, decent experiences of both partners with the fundamentals of Japanese inspired rope bondage, including solid harnesses and body mechanics on the floor and in suspensions are helpful to fully enjoy the participation in this Weekend Intensive. Gains and benefits …as a rigger: • building on the previous learned technical skills and principles of Kinbaku • learn to be present, open and intentional during a rope session • understanding important non-technical concepts, such as communication through rope and tools to create a shared experience of intimacy • gaining confidence in your abilities and self-confidence for application in private or at a Jam … as a rope-bottom: • practicing becoming present by bringing attention to your body, to your feelings and sensations • co-creating the emotional “container” in ropes based on trust and responsibility • learning to express yourself non-verbally (through movement, breathing, posture, facial expression etc) • finding it within and making an invitation / offering to our partner Content • Remarks on Safety & Consent • Exercises on presence • Exercises to connect with your partner • Different qualities of contact • Exercises to find your intention • Bondage without rope: taking control • Tying without “agenda” • Exercises on using space to create tension in a session • Exercises on time, timing and pause Bring along • About 12 jute ropes, 5 - 6 mm diameter, 7 - 8,2 m long • Inspiring clothing due to own preferences (optional) Level Intermediate / Advanced Pre-requesitions Experiences with the fundamentals of Japanese inspired rope bondage for both partners, is prerequisite for participation in this Weekend Intensive.
